This page is dedicated to inspecting metadata in your files with clarity and precision. It offers focused viewers for EXIF, IPTC, XMP, PDF properties, file-system details, histograms (for images), and a searchable structured view. Use it when you specifically need to audit, document, or compare metadata across files.

Supported Formats & What You’ll See

  • JPEG/JPG: EXIF, IPTC, XMP, file system props, histograms.
  • PNG: tEXt/iTXt (if present), XMP, file system props, histograms.
  • GIF: Basic headers, frame count, color table info, file system props.
  • TIFF: Rich EXIF, IPTC, XMP, file system props, histograms.
  • PDF: Info dictionary, XMP packets, embedded properties.

Note: Some apps strip or normalize metadata on export. If a field seems missing, it may not exist in the file.

How to Use the Metadata Viewer

  1. Upload one or more files using the upload button or drag-and-drop.
  2. Use Single View to analyze one file at a time, or switch to Bulk View for many files.
  3. Explore tabs: EXIF (technical), IPTC (descriptive), XMP (extended), PDF, and File System properties.
  4. Search within the Structured View to quickly find keys or values.
  5. Export results as JSON, CSV, TXT, HTML, or PDF.

Tip: For images, toggle Image Histograms to visualize tonal distribution.

Troubleshooting

  • Metadata missing: Some editors strip fields; try the original file.
  • Wrong date/time: Camera clock may be incorrect or timezone-normalized.
  • No GPS: Many devices disable GPS by default, or apps remove it on export.
  • Can’t export PDF: Ensure pop-up blockers allow downloads; try another format.
  • Large files: Very large images may take time to analyze. Please wait for the progress bar.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

Processing happens locally in your browser. Files aren’t permanently stored by us.

Why don’t I see GPS data?

GPS may not exist in the file, or it was removed by an app on export.

Which export format should I choose?

Use JSON for raw data, CSV for spreadsheets, HTML/PDF for sharing, TXT for quick notes.

Can I remove metadata?
